Beyond the veil

Her eyes are whispering through the veil,

That hides her soul, lest the emotions it would reveal.

Trapped in the walls, married to a man,

Whom she knows not, and disobey she never can.

She would bear his children, take his care,

And just like her mother, she would never dare.

She would never raise her voice, nor speak her heart,

She would serve his every wish, when hers would be thwart.

She would never leave him, lest she be the outcast,

She would suffer any pain till she breathes her last.

Her daughters would be taught the same,

For rebels would only bring home shame.

And so she would never know the adventures the world holds,

Coz it is within the confines of many a walls her story unfolds.

Will she ever let herself know how the fresh air feels?

Will she ever choose to look beyond the veil?
