The door

She never let anyone close the door
For what if he came and left thinking she lived there no more.

She never let anyone close the door
For she wanted to run in his arms like days of before.

She never let anyone close the door
For he had said he would be back home by four.

She never let anyone close the door
For she didn't want to miss the sound of his footsteps while in her chores.

She never let anyone close the door
For she could never accept he was a part of folklore.

She sat by the door, her eyes scanning every passer by
Hoping someday he shall come by
And walk her in like he did the first time,
The first time that they ever walked through that door.
